Palm Springs is a great place to go on a family vacation. The city is filled with a wide variety of activities for all ages. Many of the top attractions are family-owned and operated. The city has become a favorite among families since its first generation. The first generation moved to Palm Springs and fell in love with the culture and lifestyle of the area.

The area of Palm Springs is a mix of history and modernity. The city’s most famous residents include the Rat Pack, who introduced a louche elan to the area in the mid-1950s. Frank Sinatra’s first Palm Springs vacation home was designed by modernist E Stewart Williams, while his second was designed by William Francis Cody.

The city is situated in the sunny Coachella Valley, just two hours south of Hollywood. It is surrounded by three mountain ranges: Mount San Jacinto, Santa Rosa and the San Bernardino Mountains. This protects the city from harsh weather and enables residents to enjoy the city’s balmy climate. In addition, the city’s light pollution is low, so residents can often see the Milky Way during the night.

The city has a council-manager type of government. The city council appoints a city manager and city attorney. The mayor is directly elected, while the city council members serve staggered four-year terms. These elected officials are responsible for the police and fire departments, as well as planning and building services.
