You might be surprised to find that the first white people to visit Palm Springs were Spanish explorers, Jose Maria Estudillo and Jose Romero. They were sent by the newly formed Mexican government to Alta California in December 1823 in search of a new overland route to Mexico City. While they didn’t find a route, they did discover the presence of the Agua Caliente. Here, you can explore the history of the area and learn more about the lifestyle and culture that is part of Palm Springs.

For a night out in Palm Springs, you could try the cosmopolitan neighborhood of The Grove. Its hippie-chic shops, boutiques, and restaurants are perfect for a night on the town. There are even a few restaurants for pets. For a delicious breakfast, try Cheeky’s in downtown Palm Springs. There are many celebrities whose street names are known throughout the city. The bacon sampler is well worth the wait.

When it comes to getting around, Uber and Lyft can be useful. Taxis in Palm Springs can be pricey, so consider the cost of your cab before you make the trip. Also, be sure to bring a large bottle of water, as desert heat can sneak up on you, especially when you are trying to participate in strenuous activities. Heatstroke can be a sign of dehydration, so be sure to know what to look for.
