Random Facts About Palm Springs

Palm Springs is home to an impressive array of museums and galleries. The Palm Springs Art Museum, for example, features modern art in a 150,000-square-foot gallery, as well as outdoor sculpture gardens and art installations. The city is home to dozens of antique vendors and is well-known for its windmills.

During the early 1900s, Palm Springs started becoming a world-class destination, with many of the early residents moving to the desert for health reasons. Famous American actor John McCallum relocated with his family to Palm Springs for this reason. By the 1930s, Palm Springs became the premier desert resort for Hollywood stars, rivaling Las Vegas. It is also now renowned as the Golf Capital of the World, although tennis was the area’s first associated sport.

The city is also home to many French expatriates. Many of them have started their own cooking classes, which are held in home kitchens. They also host cooking competitions and exhibit their culinary creations. They often serve up delicious cuisine with a touch of sophistication. For more adventurous diners, the city is home to some world-famous restaurants.
